Our Purpose: To Know Christ and Make Him Known
The purpose of the church is to provide for the individual believer a spiritual family environment where worship, teaching, fellowship, encouragement, exhortation and equipping can take place to enable the Christian to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandment (Mark 12:29-31) and glorify God by bearing much fruit (John 15:8.)
Biblical Practices
The church strives to accomplish its purpose by the following Biblical practices and procedures
BY MEETING TOGETHER on a regular basis for fellowship, teaching, worship, and inspiration.
BY PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL to the unsaved and by the regular financial and prayer support of mission efforts made locally and throughout the world.
BY ENCOURAGING AND DEVELOPING the individual ministry gifts in serving one another and working toward Christian maturity and growth.
BY PROMOTING AND ENCOURAGING systematic Bible scholarship and obedience.
BY ENCOURAGING AND TEACHING active and complete dependence upon God’s Holy Spirit for understanding, fruitful ministry, discernment of truth and inner strength.
BY HOLDING ONE ANOTHER accountable to a Biblical lifestyle and supporting one another in weakness and failure.
BY ENCOURAGING AND TEACHING the body to become a people of prayer and intercession.
Our Church Leadership
Pastor Brian Blais
Pastor Blais grew up in Enfield, Connecticut. By God’s grace, he was saved at a young age. He was baptized and raised at Immanuel Baptist Church of Suffield, CT.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible with a Pastoral Studies Emphasis from Baptist Bible College of Clarks Summit, PA, and later received a Master of Arts degree from Baptist Bible Graduate School.
Pastor Brian met his wife Brystin at Bible College and they were married in 2007. Brystin is a godly woman, and a wonderful wife and mother. She enjoys getting involved in ministry, teaching ladies’ Bible studies, teaching children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and getting together for encouraging fellowship with the other women of the Church. Pastor Brian and Brystin have four sons and two daughters and make a lovely family of eight.
Pastor Blais has served in full-time pastoral ministry since 2017. He has also served for several years in ministry as a counselor and also as a chaplain.
Pastor Blais began his ministry as Pastor here at Cornerstone Bible Church on August 1, 2022, and he remarks that it is his high joy and privilege to be able to serve us here, and he is very thankful.
Lee Weckerly (Elder)
Lee’s spiritual journey began under his mother’s guidance, leading him to embrace faith at 18. Most of his ministry and evangelism unfolded within Heckathorn United Methodist Church. Seeking solace amidst personal struggles in 1988, Lee found himself drawn to Cornerstone, initially planning only a brief visit but ultimately making it his spiritual home due to its robust Christian teaching.
Lee’s family includes his daughter, Dee, who is the proud parent of three children: Kiaira, Braden, and Gavin. Since 2012, Lee has served as an elder at Cornerstone Bible Church, deeply committed to contributing to the congregation’s spiritual growth and journey.
Rob Lazar (Elder)
Rob’s journey to faith was influenced by his wife’s testimony, leading them to attend Cornerstone Bible Church to hear Tim Tygert preach. Impressed by the preaching, they decided it was the right spiritual home for them. Rob, along with his wife Bobbi, daughter Katie and her husband Andrew, and daughter Carly and her husband Saxon, are active members of Cornerstone.
Since 2013, Rob has served as an Elder, deeply passionate about the Word of God. He actively shares his faith through leading Bible studies, Sunday School classes, and the Men’s Breakfast. Additionally, he leads the Biblical science lessons for the church’s vacation bible school. Outside of ministry, Rob, an electrical engineer by profession, enjoys walking his beloved Havanese dogs, Cookie and Brownie.
